If you are looking to get into a health care profession that is booming then you need to take a good look at home nursing employment.  Think about it, America’s baby boomers are starting to age and as they get older there will be more and more opportunities for home nursing.

Home nursing employment is one of the fastest growing health care positions right now and most specialist do not see that trend slowing down anytime soon.  In fact, many health care insurances and even the government are worried about the high proportion of Americans aging.  As much as this is a worry, it will be a benefit for anyone looking to become a home nurse.

Are you wondering where and what type of work you will have as a home nurse?  As for the where it will be solely your choice.  The are a vast amount of facilities offering care for the elderly that you could work for.  However working at these facilities tend to be hard work.  Most of your clients will be low functioning and need assitance with a multitude of tasks, including eating, walking, and hygiene.  Plus a great majority of them will have many medical problems.

The benefit to these facilities is that the pay is ususally high and the management knows how hard the job is and will make sure you are taken care of.  These jobs are usually a little more flexible with time off as well, so if you have a family that may be a big plus.

Another type of home nursing employment is working in the residence of the client.  You may live with them 24 hours for a certain amount of days, you may visit them for weekly or you may see them for a few hours each day.  This job is probably the best of all home nursing positions.  Often you will be taking care of a widow, a couple, or sometimes even a young child, whose parents are unable to.

This type of job you will normally help with cleaning the house, giving medicine, preparing meals, and possibly having to change diapers, depending on your client.  You will often find yourself very attatch to you clients and even their families with this job.  The only downside to this type of job is when your client passes or if the family chooses to put them in a home then you are quickly out of a job.
